DANGEROUS TOYS: 20th Anniversary Live CD/DVD Package On The Way
September 19, 2006Corporate Punishment Records has teamed up with Austin hard rockers DANGEROUS TOYS to release a 20-year anniversary live CD/DVD.
In the hairspray and eyeliner soaked excesses of the late '80s, few bands embodied the gritty, ass-stomping Southern hard rock lifestyle quite like DANGEROUS TOYS. Signed in 1988 to Columbia Records, their self-titled 1989 debut produced the hits "Teas' N Pleas' n'" and "Scared" (both of which are still mainstays on classic rock radio and VH1) and was eventually certified gold.
1990's "Hellacious Acres" would be the band's last record for Columbia, as a whirlwind 3three years of touring including support slots for JUDAS PRIEST, ALICE COOPER, METAL CHURCH, MOTÖRHEAD, L.A. GUNS, FASTER PUSSYCAT, THE CULT, BONHAM, and ACCEPT took its toll, and in 1993 the band and their major-label counterpart unceremoniously parted ways.
After releasing two more studio albums independently, 1994's "Pissed" and 1995's "The R-tist Formerly Known as Dangerous Toys", Austin's finest unofficially went on hiatus, reuniting only a few more times over the next decade, including a 1999 slot supporting ALICE COOPER, and hugely successful reunion shows in the U.S. and Japan, followed by the release of their first live LP "Vitamins and Crash Helmets - Live Greatest Hits", compiling a decade worth of the band's trademark live performances.
Now on the eve of the band's 20th anniversary, Corporate Punishment will release "XX", a live double CD/DVD retrospective recorded in Austin 2004 featuring 22 tracks, clocking in at over two hours of live material.
